KATHMANDU: CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli has personally written to the party’s 663,000 organised members, urging them to mobilise with high morale to secure victory for UML candidates in the upcoming general election. In the letter, Oli frames the election as more than a routine transfer of power, describing it as a defining moment that will determine whether the country moves toward “destruction or development.” He characterises the polls as a “decisive hour of defeat and victory,” calling on party members to treat the campaign as a historic responsibility. Reiterating the party’s stance, Oli argues that a clear UML majority is essential to drive national prosperity. “To fulfil the historic task of nation-building, our party requires a decisive mandate,” he writes, appealing for active participation and unwavering commitment from cadres to ensure a majority and win for UML candidates. According to Min Bahadur Shahi, coordinator of the party’s Central Publicity and Publication Department, the mass outreach is a strategic effort to energise grassroots workers and strengthen election mobilisation. “When the party chair personally addresses members on such a large scale, it fosters a sense of ownership and direct connection with the leadership,” Shahi said, adding that the initiative is expected to boost morale across the ranks. Through the letter, the UML seeks to convey two core messages to voters: first, to defeat forces it accuses of fostering instability and destructive politics through the ballot box; and second, to return the reins of leadership to the UML, which it credits with steering development and prosperity. Party leaders maintain that Oli’s direct engagement will inject fresh energy among cadres and make campaign efforts more focused and results-oriented as the election approaches.
