Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has said he will seek the blessings of former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba after the conclusion of the special general convention. Addressing delegates at the ongoing special general convention at Bhrikutimandap on Wednesday, Thapa urged party cadres to uphold unity and refrain from using abusive language against anyone. “When you go back to your villages or write on social media, please do not abuse or insult anyone. Do not make derogatory remarks about anyone,” Thapa said. “We have to move forward by taking everyone along. After a few days, when the Congress convention concludes and new decisions are announced, we will certainly go to seek the blessings of former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba.” Thapa’s remarks came amid heightened tensions within the party after the establishment faction declared the special general convention illegitimate and decided to expel Thapa, fellow General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma and Joint General Secretary Farmullah Mansur from the party for five years.
