Hari Budha, a mountaineer from Thawang, Rolpa, has created history by successfully completing the Seven Summits challenge, becoming one of the world’s few amputee climbers to scale the highest peaks on all seven continents. Budha completed his final ascent on January 6, 2026, reaching the summit of Mount Vinson in Antarctica, the continent’s highest peak. Following the achievement, he returned directly to Nepal to share his success. He was accompanied on the Mount Vinson expedition by his guide Mingma Sherpa and official expedition photographer Abiral Rai. A former Gurkha soldier, Budha lost both of his legs in a blast during combat operations in Afghanistan in 2010. Despite the life-altering injury, he continued to push physical and mental limits, emerging as a global symbol of resilience and determination. Under his campaign titled “Victory Over Dreams – Seven Summits,” Budha climbed the tallest mountain on each continent. His summits include Mount Blanc (2019), Mount Kilimanjaro (2020), Mount Everest (2023), Denali (2024), Aconcagua (2025), Carstensz Pyramid (Puncak Jaya) (2025), and finally Mount Vinson (2026). Battling extreme cold, steep terrain, and high-altitude conditions, Budha and his team relied on specialized climbing gear and advanced prosthetic legs to achieve the historic feat. He said the mission was aimed at raising awareness about disability rights and inspiring others to pursue their dreams despite physical limitations. “If we have dreams, dedication, and never give up, no challenge in life is impossible,” Budha said. “I lost both my legs, yet I climbed Everest and now the highest peaks of all seven continents. My goal is to build confidence among persons with disabilities and change society’s perception.” Budha emphasized that people with disabilities can lead successful, meaningful lives and said his achievement carries a message not only for Nepal but for the world, challenging long-held misconceptions about disability and human potential. The post Nepali Climber Hari Budha Makes History by Completing Seven Summits first appeared on epardafas.com.
