KATHMANDU: Police have arrested four individuals involved in the robbery of the Nepal SBI Bank branch in Ghyanglekh Rural Municipality, Sundhili recovering a large portion of the stolen cash with the help of local residents. The robbery took place on Tuesday night at the bank branch in Bastipur, Hayutar-2, Ghyanglekh, where the group made off with Rs 31,095,283. Preliminary investigations suggest that five to six individuals were involved in the heist. According to Chief of Sindhuli District Police, Superintendent of Police Lal Dhwaj Subedi, Rs 18,105,500 has been recovered from the arrested suspects. The suspects were apprehended in the Sukachuri area of Ghyanglekh-1, after local residents alerted the police while the robbers were fleeing. Authorities credited the swift action and cooperation of locals for the recovery of more than half of the stolen amount. The identities of the arrested suspects have not yet been disclosed, and investigations are continuing. Following the incident, security across the district has been tightened, with checkpoints and monitoring increased in neighboring districts to prevent the escape of any remaining suspects.
