Parts of the Ganpati Deluxe bus, buried along the Trishuli River near Dhondrang Besi in Tanahun, have been recovered by security forces. The bus had gone missing on 28 Asar 2081 after a landslide struck while traveling from Kathmandu to Gaur. Security forces from the Armed Police Force (APF), including APF No. 17 Battalion from Chitwan and No. 23 Manakamana Battalion from Bhanu, were deployed to recover the vehicle after its parts were spotted, APF Deputy Spokesperson DSP Shailendra Thapa confirmed. The Ganpati Deluxe bus, registration Bagmati Province 03–001 Kha 2495, traveling from Kathmandu to Gaur, and the Angel Deluxe bus, registration Bagmati Province 03–006 Kha 1516, traveling from Birgunj to Kathmandu, went missing after being hit by a landslide on the morning of 28 Asar 2081 (mid-July 2024) in Simaltal, Chitwan, near the Trishuli River. Of the 31 passengers on the Ganpati Deluxe, three survived by jumping from the bus, while 28 went missing.
