Bishwa Prakash Sharma Says He Quit General Secretary Post Earlier, Calls Disciplinary Action Irrelevant - english.pardafas.com
Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma, who has been expelled for five years by the party’s establishment faction, has said he had already relinquished the post earlier in the day, making the disciplinary decision meaningless. Speaking at the closed session of the special general convention, Sharma said the expulsion had no relevance as he was no longer holding the position. “I heard that the central committee meeting had taken disciplinary action. For the first time in my life, I found myself facing the word ‘disciplinary action’,” Sharma said. “I was talking with friends. It seems that trying to run the Congress in line with changing times leads to such action.” Sharma said a colleague called to inform him of the decision, to which he replied that he had already stepped down from the post of general secretary earlier that morning. He said that after he vacated the position, two young party leaders, Pradeep Paudel and Gururaj Ghimire, had registered their nominations for the post of general secretary. He said the special general convention hall had formally rejected the establishment faction’s disciplinary decision. Sharma said efforts were underway to confer legitimacy on the special general convention and to send a message of leadership transfer to a new generation within the party. The post Bishwa Prakash Sharma Says He Quit General Secretary Post Earlier, Calls Disciplinary Action Irrelevant first appeared on epardafas.com.
