Chief of the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Force Rajunath Pandey has resigned from his post. Pandey announced his resignation while addressing a press conference on Friday, stating that it will take effect from Magh 4. Speaking at the briefing, he claimed that during his tenure the metropolitan police achieved significant progress in enforcing urban governance and reclaiming encroached public land under government ownership. He said the metropolitan police successfully brought hundreds of bighas of encroached land, including road pavements and public spaces in Kathmandu, back under government control. Pandey stated that the force also played an active role during disaster situations in the capital. “We have worked firmly for urban governance. We also focused on making citizens aware that discipline is essential for urban order,” Pandey said, adding that several public awareness programmes were carried out over the past three and a half years. Pandey said he would make public his future plans after Magh 4 and that he would move forward after consultations. He also expressed gratitude to all those who supported efforts aimed at improving Kathmandu Metropolitan City and strengthening urban governance. The post Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Chief Pandey Resigns first appeared on epardafas.com.
