KATHMANDU: The Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and the Rastriya Mukti Party (RMP) have officially unified, marking a significant political development. Senior Vice Chair of the Rastriya Mukti Party and renowned cultural activist Suman Sayami has formally joined the NCP along with his group. The unification was announced during a program held at Rastriya Sabha Griha on Wednesday. Sayami, known for his leadership in movements to protect Kathmandu Valley’s cultural heritage and for spearheading protests against the Guthi Bill, has now been integrated into the NCP. The party has indicated plans to field Sayami as its candidate from Kathmandu-8 in the upcoming elections. The agreement was signed by NCP Co-conveners Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Nepal, along with Sayami on behalf of the Rastriya Mukti Party. According to the joint statement, the unity was driven by the need for political consolidation to address issues related to victims of structural injustice, cooperative fraud, and other marginalized communities. The unified party has pledged to fight for the rights of oppressed groups, strengthen democracy, safeguard national integrity and identity, and work toward establishing socialism. The agreement also includes commitments to amend the constitution for people-oriented governance reforms and to ensure the mandatory implementation of inclusive representation.
