Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said indigenous festivals are invaluable assets of Nepal’s civilization, culture, and identity, underscoring the need to preserve and promote them. Speaking at a programme organised by the Magar community in Kathmandu on Thursday on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti, the prime minister said festivals such as Maghe Sankranti are part of the country’s cultural heritage. She said the diverse beauty of indigenous festivals, traditions, and attire has adorned Nepal’s national identity in a distinctive way. “The indigenous festivals like Maghe Sankranti are invaluable assets of our civilization, culture, and identity. It is these festivals, traditions, and the colourful beauty of our attire that have beautifully shaped our national identity,” Prime Minister Karki said.
