The Nepali Congress has moved closer to a formal split after the party’s establishment faction decided to expel two general secretaries and one joint general secretary for five years. A central committee meeting held at the party headquarters in Sanepa on Wednesday decided to expel General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma, along with Joint General Secretary Farmullah Mansur, stripping them even of ordinary party membership, central committee member Laxmi Khatri said. The decision has accelerated the process of division within the party, following repeated but unsuccessful attempts to resolve the internal dispute.
