Police have arrested seven Chinese nationals on charges of illegally operating an international incoming call bypass system using Voice over Internet Protocol technology. Those arrested have been identified as 33-year-old Liu Pan, 31-year-old Gao Zhikun, 41-year-old Liu Jianwei, 41-year-old Du Shuangsheng, 38-year-old Peng Kang, 49-year-old Chai Zhixin and 42-year-old Zhang Hao. According to police, the arrests were made on Tuesday following information that an illegal international call bypass operation was underway. A team deployed from the Central Investigation Bureau, with technical support and coordination from Nepal Telecom and Ncell, conducted the operation. Police said the suspects were arrested from a restaurant operated by Liu Pan at Jyatha in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-27 while they were actively running the call bypass operation. Equipment used for the illegal activity was also seized from the site.
