Excavation work will continue today on the remains of a bus found along the bank of the Trishuli River at Dundrangbesi in Abukhaireni Rural Municipality–5 of Tanahun district. The remains were discovered on Sunday on the riverbank after a landslide swept a bus off the Narayanghat–Muglin road section into the Trishuli River. Excavation work had begun soon after the discovery. According to the District Police Office, Tanahun, personnel from the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force carried out excavation work throughout Sunday, which is set to continue today. Police said that at around 10:45 am on Sunday, the front portion of a bus was found buried along the Trishuli riverbank. Deputy Superintendent of Police Shravan Kumar Bik of the District Police Office, Tanahun, said the bus is suspected to be the ‘Ganapati Deluxe’ bus bearing registration number Bagmati Province 03-001 Kha 2495, which had been travelling from Kathmandu to Gaur when it was swept away by a landslide at Simaltal in Bharatpur Metropolitan City–29, Chitwan, on Asar 28, 2081 BS. Following the information, a team led by a sub-inspector from the Area Police Office, Saranghat, and another team of 12 personnel led by an inspector from the Area Police Office, Abukhaireni, were deployed to the site. Although the buried structure appears to be a bus, it has not yet been fully confirmed, DSP Bik said.
