ANTA Elects New Leadership Unanimously After Consensus Breaks at AGM - english.pardafas.com
The Association of Nepal Terai in Australia (ANTA) has unanimously elected a new executive committee under the leadership of Sujit Kumar Singh, following a brief leadership deadlock and the subsequent withdrawal of a rival кандидат. The decision was finalized after consensus collapsed during ANTA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held last week, forcing the organization to prepare for an online election before the impasse was resolved. ANTA had earlier formed an election committee to oversee the selection of a new leadership, keeping both options—consensus and election—open. During initial negotiations facilitated by the committee, a tentative agreement had emerged between presidential aspirants Sujit Singh and Nitesh Saha, under which Singh would serve as president and Saha as vice-president, with the rest of the executive committee to be chosen unanimously. However, disagreements surfaced on the day of the AGM, with Nitesh Saha opting to maintain his candidacy for the presidency. His supporters also pressed his claim, preventing the announcement of a new executive committee at the meeting. As a result, the election committee decided to proceed with an online voting process. Before the voting deadline expired, Nitesh Saha formally withdrew his candidacy. Following his withdrawal, the election committee confirmed that the new executive committee had been elected unanimously under Sujit Singh’s leadership. Newly Elected Executive Committee of ANTA President: Sujit Kumar Singh Vice-President: Vikas Kumar Jha General Secretary: Anju Shah Coordinator: MD Saifullah Treasurer: Ranjit Kumar Das Assistant Treasurer: Vinay Kumar Yadav Public Relations Officer: Manish Kumar Sah Executive Members:Rajesh Yadav, Ritesh Kumar Mahato, Sujit Kumar Sah, Vishal Kumar Pandit, Suraj Kumar Sah, Nitish Gupta, Ajit Kushwaha, Vicky Kushwaha, Pramish Mahato, and Naresh Kumar Sah. Outgoing president and social worker–entrepreneur Ranjit Saha praised ANTA’s continued role in community welfare, cultural preservation, and identity advocacy, stating that he was proud to hand over leadership to a capable and widely accepted team. Newly elected president Sujit Singh, citing nearly 15 years of social engagement in the diaspora, pledged to make ANTA more effective, inclusive, and institutionally strong during his two-year term. Vice-President Vikas Jha and other office bearers emphasized their commitment to strengthening cooperation not only within the Terai community but also across the broader Nepali diaspora in Australia. ANTA is widely regarded as a model diaspora organization, known for its active role in social service, cultural promotion, and advocacy for community rights. Members say its activities are closely followed not only in Australia but also in Nepal. The post ANTA Elects New Leadership Unanimously After Consensus Breaks at AGM first appeared on epardafas.com.
