Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said he is ready to remove any obstacle on his part if it helps keep the party united, including allowing someone else to sign election tickets if his signature creates a problem. Deuba made the remarks during discussions on Wednesday with General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma, according to party spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat. Mahat said Deuba held a lengthy conversation with the two leaders and stressed that party unity was the most important issue at present. Quoting Deuba, Mahat said the party president made it clear that the Nepali Congress must not split and that he was willing to act flexibly to safeguard unity. Deuba told the general secretaries that both of them have a strong future in the party and urged them to move forward by taking everyone along. Deuba said that if there was any problem with his signature on party tickets, he was ready to authorise another leader to sign in order to maintain unity. He noted that decisions related to ticket endorsements had already been approved by the central committee and submitted to the Election Commission with consensus, including for proportional representation lists. He also proposed forming the parliamentary board through consultation, saying it could help resolve outstanding issues. Mahat said the general secretaries had suggested that Deuba take on the role of a party guardian, but added that they did not ask him to refrain from contesting future elections. According to Mahat, Deuba reiterated that preserving party unity remains his top priority in discussions with the general secretaries. The post Deuba Tells General Secretaries He Is Ready to Step Aside on Ticket Signatures to Preserve Party Unity first appeared on epardafas.com.
