NEPSE Edges Up as Finance and Development Bank Shares Outperform - english.pardafas.com
The Nepal Stock Exchange posted a mild recovery on Thursday, with buying interest concentrated in finance and development bank stocks. The benchmark NEPSE index climbed 9.23 points to close at 2,714.61, regaining ground after a slight pullback in the previous session. Overall market indicators showed mixed movement. The Float Index increased by 0.66 points, while the Sensitive Index slipped by 0.47 points and the Sensitive Float Index declined by 0.14 points. Trading momentum strengthened during the session. A total of 332 companies were traded through 94,174 transactions, with 19.07 million shares changing hands. Total turnover rose to Rs 9.07 billion, compared to Rs 8.92 billion recorded a day earlier. Several stocks saw strong gains. Shares of SY Panel Nepal, Trishuli Hydropower Company, Shreenagar Agritech Industries, and Corporate Development Bank closed at the upper circuit. Excel Development Bank’s share price jumped by nearly 10 percent, while Rawa Energy Development advanced by around 9 percent. Kalika Power Company recorded the sharpest decline, shedding 6.25 percent. In terms of turnover, Ankhu Khola Hydropower Company led the market with transactions worth Rs 408.2 million. Manjushree Finance followed with nearly Rs 360 million in share trading, while SY Panel Nepal saw turnover of about Rs 330 million. Of the 13 sectoral indices, 10 finished higher. The finance sub-index posted the strongest gain, rising by 2.38 percent.
