Ten people, including nine Nepali nationals, were killed in a fire in Solan district of India’s Himachal Pradesh state. One Nepali woman was injured, while 18 others managed to escape safely. The incident occurred in Ward No. 6 of Arki Nagar Panchayat in Solan district. The fire completely destroyed five buildings and eight shops, according to reports. All the Nepali victims were residents of Salyan district in Karnali Province. Those who lost their lives have been identified as 33-year-old Dhan Bahadur Vik, his 30-year-old wife Kabita Vik, their 16-year-old daughter Radha Vik, 11-year-old daughter Renuka Vik, and their 22-month-old son Renjan Vik. Also killed were 42-year-old Kashiram Vik, his 30-year-old wife Tika Vik, their eight-year-old daughter Anu Vik, and six-year-old son Sanjay. They were from Shivakumakh Rural Municipality-2, Takura, in Salyan district. According to preliminary information, the fire started from the top floor of a five-storey wooden building where at least 27 Nepalis had been living. Due to cold weather, residents had lit firewood and kept it inside their rooms, from where the fire is believed to have originated. Because the structure was made of wood, the fire spread rapidly to five nearby buildings. Locals reported hearing around nine loud explosions as gas cylinders went off one after another during the blaze. After receiving information, four fire brigade teams reached the site at around 4:30 am. Fire engines from Arki fire station, along with units from Banalgi, Baluganj in Shimla, and Ambuja, were deployed. With the support of the National Disaster Response Force, administrative teams, and local residents, the fire was brought under control after about nine hours, at around 1:30 pm. Families of those killed have been provided Rs 25,000 each as immediate relief, according to reports. The post Fire in Himachal Pradesh Kills 10, Including Nine Nepali Nationals first appeared on epardafas.com.
