KATHMANDU: Leader of the Nepal Communist Party, Ranjita Shrestha, will not be contesting this election. In her place, Ramlal Dagaura Tharu, mayor of Tikapur Municipality, has been nominated as the candidate from Kailali-1. Dagaura Tharu, founder of the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP), had earlier merged with the NCP. In the previous election, Shrestha won the seat with 30,404 votes. This time, the NUP has split into four factions.
