KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) of Nepal has received formal complaints against three candidates listed under the Proportional Representation (PR) system for the House of Representatives Election 2082. In a statement issued today, the Commission confirmed that complaints have been filed against: Chandreshwar Mandal of Siraha — listed at serial number 97 on the CPN-UML closed list Jeevan Lama of Lalitpur — listed at serial number 62 on the Nepal Communist Party closed list Kumar Bahadur Thapa of Pakhribas–8, Dhankuta — listed at serial number 37 on the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) closed list According to the notice issued by Krishna Bahadur Raut, Secretary of the Commission and Electoral Officer for the PR system: A complaint filed by Santosh Kumar Sah of Pipra Rural Municipality–1, Mahottari, alleges that Chandreshwar Mandal, who belongs to an Indigenous (Adivasi) community, was incorrectly categorized under the Madhesi community quota. Rehar Singh Tamang of Temal–2, Kavrepalanchok, has complained that Jeevan Lama was falsely listed under the disability category despite not having any disability. Pabitra Shrestha of Pakhribas–5, Dhankuta, has filed a complaint against Kumar Bahadur Thapa, stating that a case concerning the illegal sale of land belonging to the Uttar Pani Tea Estate is currently under consideration at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). The Election Commission has instructed all concerned candidates to appear in person with documentary evidence at the Commission office on Magh 13, between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The Commission warned that legal action will be taken as per existing laws if the concerned parties fail to appear within the stipulated time.
