KATHMANDU: Nepal Police Headquarters has issued a final seven-day notice to 17 police personnel who have been absent from duty for an extended period without authorization, warning them to report immediately with a satisfactory explanation. In a public notice released on Sunday, the headquarters stated that the personnel—who have remained out of contact since various dates—must appear within seven days, excluding travel time, and submit a written clarification for their prolonged absence. According to the notice, those missing since the months of Kartik and Mangsir include one Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), one Head Constable, and one Assistant Head Constable. The list also comprises 11 constables and three office assistants who have been out of contact for several months. Police Headquarters said the public notice was issued after repeated attempts to trace the individuals, including posting notices at their registered home addresses, failed to yield any response. The absconding personnel have been instructed to report to the concerned authority within the stipulated time with a valid and convincing explanation. Failure to do so, the notice warns, will result in their dismissal from service in accordance with police regulations, rendering them ineligible for future government employment. The headquarters emphasized that the action is being taken to uphold discipline and accountability within the police force.
