KATHMANDU: Authorities have continued excavation work on a bus found buried along the bank of the Trishuli River in Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality-5, Dundrangbesi, Tanahun. The remains of the bus were discovered on Sunday after it was swept away by a landslide along the Narayangadh–Muglin road section and fell into the Trishuli River. Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force carried out excavation efforts throughout the day on Sunday, and the operation is continuing today, according to the District Police Office, Tanahun. Police said that around 10:45 am, the front portion of a bus was found buried near the riverbank. Preliminary investigations suggest that the bus could be the ‘Ganapati Deluxe’ bus bearing registration number Bagmati Province 03-001 Kha 2495, which was traveling from Kathmandu to Gaur on Ashadh 28, 2081 BS. The information was confirmed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Shravan Kumar Bik of the District Police Office, Tanahun. Following the report, a team led by a sub-inspector from Saranghat Area Police Office and another team of 12 personnel led by an inspector from Aanbukhaireni Area Police Office were immediately deployed to the site. Although the bus appears to be buried along the riverbank, authorities have not yet been able to fully confirm its identity. Excavation and further investigations are currently underway, police said.
