Chaitra 7-11: 8th Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF)

The 8th Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF) is set to take place from Chaitra 7-11, 2082 (March 20-24). Organized by the Nepal Film and Cultural Academy, the festival will bring together filmmakers and film lovers from across the globe.

This year, 87 films from 40 countries have been selected from over 600 submissions. Many of these films have already been chosen for some major international festivals like Cannes, Berlinale, Busan, and Locarno. The festival will also feature panel discussions, masterclasses, and workshops with local and international filmmakers, industry experts, and notable figures.

The festival is divided into national and international sections, with awards given to the best feature films, short films, and documentaries in both categories. For the first time, NIFF is introducing a competition for AI-related films – either about AI or made using AI technologies. 

Films will be screened at QFX Cinemas (Civil Mall & Chhaya Center), and discussion events will be held at the Nepal Tourism Board and Rastriya Sabha Griha (City Hall) in Kathmandu.
