After the National Festival Dashain, another big festival of the Nepali Hindu community is beginning shortly. And, that is the Festival of Tihar (a.k.n Festival of Lights) of the year 2079 B.S. which is also known as Yamapanchak. According to the decision announced by the Nepal Panchang Development Committee, this year’s Tihar is starting from the 5th of Kartik. This festival celebration is starting from the day of Kaag Tihar on the day of Kartika Krishna Paksha Trayodashi and will end with Bhai Tika on the second date (Dwitiya) of Kartika Shukla Paksha. This five-day festival is also known as Yamapanchak and is celebrated with great fervor, especially within Nepal.

This year, Dhanteras and Kaag Tihar fall on the 6th of Kartik, while Sukhratri including Kukur Tihar and Lakshmi Puja is on the 7th of Kartik. Gai Tihar (Cow Puja) is to be celebrated on the 8th day of Kartik. Similarly, on the 9th, there is a celebration of Mha Puja, Govardhan Puja, and another very important festival Nepal Samvat 1143 is also starting on this very same day.

This year Bhai Tika (Kija Puja) is on 10th of  Kartik. The auspicious moment of Bhaitika on this day is at 11:37 A.M in the morning according to the Nepal Panchang Development Committee. We will add the auspicious moment of Lakshmi Puja to this article very soon.
